Session Indian Pale Ale, or IPA, originated in England in the early 1700s and was originally designed to survive the long journey to India. IPA is a hoppy style of beer brewed with pale malts, however it has an equal malt to hop ratio. IPA typically has a bold and distinctive flavour and also has a higher ABV than most pale ales.
